REV. WILLIAM SCHOFIELD'S DEPARTURE FROM MELBOURNE 1845 |
---|
The termination of the ministerial duties of this gentleman, in Melbourne, in conformity with the policy of Wesleyan Methodists, is expected during the ensuing month. The present state of the society under his charge, numerically, presents a pleasing contrast with its condition at the commencement of his labours; nor have his exertions been followed with less success in his exertions to lighten the pecuniary obligations under which the trustees of the Wesleyan Chapel, in this town, were placed.
Previous to his departure hence, the members of the society, in connection with the attendants on his ministry, purpose to present him a silver lever watch, as a token of affection, for his zealous services, and a remembrancer to their pastor of those he is about to leave.
A public tea meeting will be given in connection with the presentation of the keepsake, which will, we doubt not, be numerously attended.
The future sphere of the Rev. William Schofield's labours will be Parramatta, New South Wales. His successor is to be the Rev. Edward Sweetman, at present stationed in Sydney, New South Wales.
